Rampage is a 1986 arcade game by Bally Midway in which players take control of gigantic monsters trying to survive against onslaughts of military forces. The game is no doubt an arcade classic being simple, addictive and fun to play especially in multiplayer mode. Rampage was later ported in major home systems such as the Sega Master System, Nintendo NES, Atari Lynx, Amstrad CPC, ZX Spectrum, Commodore 64, Amiga, Atari ST, Atari 2600, Atari 7800, IBM PC.

Review
Rampage Depending on your taste, you choose from George, a King Kong-like gigantic gorilla transformed by an experimental vitamin, Lizzie, a Godzilla-like dinosaur/lizard transformed by a radioactive lake, and Ralph, a giant werewolf transformed by a food additive. The Atari Lynx version adds a special fourth character named Larry, a giant rat. As monsters, they need to destroy every building in the neighborhood to advance to the next level, eating people and destroying helicopters, tanks, taxis, police cars, boats, and trolleys along the way. Most of the time, there are troops shooting at you from the building windows, which will cost you some of your precious health. Fortunately, there are a few health-packs scattered around, which are mobile though, thus you need to be fast in order to collect.
Unlike the original arcade game, most of the home ports (including Atari Lynx version) actually end, rather than repeating levels endlessly.
Gameplay is rather repetitive, jumping on buildings, smashing floors and destroying incoming helis or troops, but still, the game is great fun to play, especially in multiplayer mode which offers up to four players via ComLynx (Lynx console connection protocol) take control of the giant mutants.

Technically, the Lynx version is quite good. The animation is fine, and so are the backgrounds, if a little basic. The monsters move smoothly and everything is colorful and in full view. The characters are large, colorful, and well-drawn, and additional touches such as flashing neon building signs and terrified citizens running down the city.
The sound effects are reasonably good, and the music is a direct port from the NES and original arcade.
